A Wicked day in NYC!

We slept in today which was fabulous - well, Diana slept in and I worked on computer stuff. It was a nice relaxing morning. We walked through Washington Square Park and found a circle of chess tables which we enjoyed. There were actually some people playing with timers. It was cool! If we had only had chess pieces with us...
We caught our downtown loop bus tour over to Pier 16/17 and went on our free Liberty Cruise with Water Taxi. It was over an hour and we saw the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, the four new NYC Waterfalls done by an artist and the bridges. It was a great tour and we stood up on the upper deck and had our hair blown to pieces.
After finding some sunscreen for Diana, we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a fabulous view from the top and the breeze was very nice, as well. It was a perfect day to walk the bridge. When we got to the Brooklyn side, we caught the subway back to Times Square to get in line for the drawing for front row Wicked tickets. They do a drawing for the front row seats two hours before each performance. We did not win. :( However, Diana got in the cancellation line instead because we figured there would be a mad rush after the drawing. One ticket came available so Miriam purchased that one and while Diana waited for two more, Miriam and I made a mad dash to the B&B to check in to our amazing room! We got back with less than 10 minutes to spare and Diana was still waiting. Miriam went on in and less than five minutes before the show, Diana got two more tickets. YEA!! We had AWESOME seats!! The show was incredible - I laughed, I cried, I enjoyed. I think the girl that played Elphaba is the same one I saw in London but I'm going to have to check my program when I get home.
Because of all our mad craziness before the show, we were starving when it was over so we went to this yummy burger joint that is hidden behind a curtain in Le Parker Meridien hotel by Carnegie Hall. I think it is NYC's hidden gem! Their burgers are fabulous! Miriam headed to the B&B and Diana and I headed to Sara's to get our luggage.

We had a little trouble getting there because I was on the wrong road for the bus we needed to catch until we had walked all the way to Times Square and then Diana lost her metro card but after begging people for quarters (we almost put out a hat and started singing), the bus driver was kind enough to let her ride for free. However, it was much later than I had expected - poor Sara! She was very kind to wait up for us so we could get our luggage.

We were so exhausted at this point that we decided to splurge on our very first NYC taxi ride! Did you know they have TV's in taxi's now? We had a great driver who didn't mind our silliness in the back of his cab. It was a perfect ending to a perfect day in NYC.
