Old Salem and Snow Hill

Our fabulous host, Heather, got our morning off to a perfect start by making a run to Krispy Kremes for "Hot Donuts Now." Yum, yum!! We headed over to Old Salem where Heather gave us a quick overview and then had to leave for this thing she called "work"????

It was a fun day! We toured as many of the time period buildings as we could fit in to our day - including the bakery and the single mens house. :) By about 3pm, it was time to head to our next stop on the journey. We were heading east again to Snow Hill, NC.
One of the coolest reconnections that I will make on this trip is with my friend from elementary school, Karen. We lived just down the street and were Southeast Rebels! This is a picture of my birthday party when I turned 7. Karen is on the top left and I am the bottom right.

And we haven't changed a BIT!! :)

I have not seen Karen since she moved away from Marshall in the 5th grade (1977). It's hard to believe it has been 31 years! Thanks to email, we have kept in touch over the past several years and it has been so much fun seeing her again - and meeting her family.

Karen and Brian were high school sweethearts and have been married for 23 years. They have two great kids - Dani and Andrew. It always amazes me how special friends can get together after 31 years and it feels like you just saw one another yesterday! What a great day!
