N-Y-C, Just got here this morning...

We were up at the crack of dawn (or maybe even before) to catch the train to NYC! We arrived at Penn Station at 8am and said goodbye to Miriam as she went off to work. Our first stop was a Starbucks! Then we bought our subway pass and headed to Sara's. We dumped all our stuff and visited with Sara before she had to go to work and then Diana and I were off to play. We walked from Greenwich Village (Bleeker & 6th Ave) to Times Square - stopping along the way to look at anything that caught our attention.

Just off Times Square, we met my friend, Cathy, for lunch at Junior's. I haven't seen Cathy since we met during our semester abroad in London in 1988. We had a great time remembering all the things we did that semester! It was great to see her and she hasn't changed a bit!
Of course we had to make a stop at the Hershey store (just for comparison sake) and the Mars (M&M) store across the street. So much chocolate in one place - oh my! We stopped by the Wicked theatre to find out about the drawing that they do before each show. We are going to try to get tickets that way but it sounds almost as likely as winning the lottery. Apparently two hours before each performance you can line up to put your name in a drawing for front row seats. I hope we win! We bought our New York Sightseeing Bus Tour tickets and then parted ways with Cathy. She was off to meet her niece to go to the George Michael concert. We were tired of walking so we just rode the bus around most of the downtown loop. We had a nice breeze up on top and enjoyed the view. We hopped off just in time to catch a city bus back to Bleeker Street.
Sara made reservations for us at a restaurant called Village which was not very far from her apartment. I was so completely jealous when she told us it was the restaurant they came to after meeting George Clooney! AGH! She does fact checking and text editing for magazines (free lance) and she talked to him on the phone for about 45 minutes and then met him in person. I would have died!
It was a great evening! We walked around the neighborhood - checking out Magnolia's bakery which was featured in Sex and the City. The most amazing thing happened when Diana ran into some people she knew from a cruise she had recently taken when we were just walking down some random street. We were just talking earlier in the day about how bizarre it would be to run into someone you know in NYC - and sure enough! It was crazy!
